How to Play Quordle
A complete guide to rules, controls, and strategy for solving all four words.
Controls
Type letters using your physical keyboard or the on-screen keyboard.
Press Enter to submit a guess. Press Backspace to delete a letter.
- Each guess must be a valid 5-letter English word.
- You cannot submit the same word twice.
- You have 9 total attempts to solve all four words.
Color feedback
After submitting a guess, each letter is colored on every board.
Green: correct letter in the correct position. Yellow: correct letter in the wrong position. Gray: letter not in the word.
The same letter can be green on one board and gray on another — each board evaluates independently.
The keyboard
Each key on the on-screen keyboard is divided into four quadrants — one for each board.
The quadrants fill with green or yellow as you gather information, helping you track which letters work where.
Strategy tips
- Use your first 2-3 guesses to test as many unique letters as possible.
- Prioritize common letters: E, A, R, S, T, O, L, I, N.
- Don't rush to solve one board — help all four boards with each guess.
- When only one board remains, you have more freedom to guess specifically.
